Our Poll Dorset History
Haven Park Poll Dorset stud was established in 2007 with the purchase of ewes from Moss Vale and Loddonlea dispersal sales, ewes were also purchased from Armdale and Allendale studs in 2012 and 2011 respectively.
The 2012 drop of lambs were sired by rams from Ulandi Park and Hillden.
For the 2013 drop; rams purchased from Valma and Gloroy were used, pictures of these rams are in our photo gallery.
In 2013 Haven Park purchased a powerful Ulandi Park ram 196-12, a son of Ulandi Park 82-10. We also obtained semen out of one of the retained Ulandi Park stud rams 125-12. Our 2014 lamb drop will have lambs by both of these sires plus our pre-existing Valma and Gloroy stud sires.
Haven Park have been so impressed by the quality of Ulandi Park stud rams that in 2014 they bought Ulandi Park 72-13, a son of $28,000 Kurralea 11-11, for the top price at the Australasian Poll Dorset Championships in Bendigo. Ulandi Park 72-13 will be used extensively along with our current sires to produce opened face, thick and meaty flock rams that commercial producers desire.
In 2019 we sold the Poll Dorset Stud to the Galpin Family, Warrawindi Farms, Penola SA.
Whilst retaining enough ewes to breed our own rams for our expanding commercial enterprise.
